  • Lava bed on the Big Island of Hawaii. Emerging plants bring life to lava adn contrast wiht the austere landscape. Trees have colonized the lava in the background seen in the fog.
  • Lake Tekapo, New Zealand. On the South Island, Lake Tekapo glistens with its famous blue color seen best at mid-day.

  • Doubtful Sound, New Zealand. A spectacular sea and landscape.
  • Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument wildflowers. In southern Utah, this new Natioanl Monument is a litle known gem for photographers and hikers. Usually austere, after winter rains, the spring wildflowers can be spectacular.
  • Bryce Canyon National Park in Utah is world renown for these colorful spires that stretch as far as the eye can see.

  • Monument Valley in Colorado outcrop. Monument Valley made famous by John Wayne movies is stunningly picturesque. Monument Valley is on Navajo lands and to explore, you need to engage a Navajo guide.
  • Canyon de Chelly in storm light. The light broke through a rain storm that I waited in for hours to have the storm lift for time for just two photographs.
  • Zion National Park, Towers of the Virgin with tree silhouettes. Shot at dawn.
  • British Columbia ranch provided this idyllic scene.
  • Double arch, Arches Natioanl Monumnet, Utah provdies a study in light and form.
  • Zion National Park landscape. One of the most wonderful of our national parks and deserves exploring off the beaten path.
  • Zion National Park Monochrome. Though known for its colorful canyon, I love to find unusual compositions such as this monochrome landscape.
  • Arches National Monument canyon. This fabulous national park attracts people to its numerous arches, but the canyons are equally stunning.
  • Delicate Arch is proably the most famous of all the arches in Arches National Monument. It is definitely worth the hike to see it. I love to capture the shadow of the arch as well as the distant landscape to give context to this dramatic scene.
  • Canyonlands National Monument landscape. This extensive park is one of the least accessible of our national parks. There are only a few overlooks and the main access is for backpackers on long trails.
  • Hayfield. This hayfield near the Four Corners area caught my eye with the wonderful lines set off by the looming storm.
  • Mount Hood, Oregon wildflowers. The lupines and other wildflowers are highlighted with snowfields beyond looking to Mount Hood itself.
